Together again
Like Jackie wrote, I, too, have no excuse for the long lapse between blog entries. She put it so well: writing a bit every now and then could have been just the break I needed, but I didn't take it. I'm even more embarrassed that so many of my blog entries start out this way. "I know it's been a long time - I'm sorry!" But here we are, three months later, writing again from the same side of the Atlantic. And that has been the latest joy - it's good to see good friends face to face.
I like what Jackie wrote about their destination wedding - it's bringing together friends from all over the world. How amazing that friends who were made a state or a region or a country or an ocean away can meet in the same place at the same time. The icing on the wedding cake is that we're all here to celebrate another friendship that distance and love brought together. Antonello and Jackie are just another example of a relationship that crossed geographical borders. It's a true life love story! and we're all so excited that we get to be a part of it in just a couple weeks.
We're carrying samples of the bridesmaid dresses in our wallets, looking out for the perfect example of a hair style, searching cds for fun reception music, picking up maps of Indianapolis to help the guests get their barrings, and it's all so exciting! All these activities keep reminding me that a party is coming up, that we'll get to see friends and family for a once in a life time event.
Speaking of a once in a life time event, a group of bagpipers just started tuning (tuning? I hope it's not their concert) in the lot right next to my building. It's hard enough for me to understand bagpipers playing before 8AM on a Sunday morning, but I can't help trying to imagine how I would explain this to the out of town (neigh, out of country) guests who'll be here in two weeks.
